Dr. Marchita Masters

Dr. Masters

I encompass a broad spectrum of skills including individual, group and family therapy; psychological assessment; substance abuse counseling; stress management; trauma treatment; cognitive therapy; psycho-educational groups; program development and supervision of clinicians and doctoral interns.

My knowledge and experience are vast but my approach is simple!

I use a relaxed approach and I have a warm, comfortable style that allows my clients to feel safe and connected. I like to use humor because laughter is healing, helps break down barriers and aids in the learning process. Therapy is hard work, so we might as well enjoy it.

Over 30 Experience

So, yes I started when I was 10 :)

Seriously, I've been working in my passion for some time now!

I'm a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of therapeutic experience with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families as well as ethnically diverse populations and the LGBTQ community. I obtained a BA degree in Psychology from Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, graduating with honors. In 1986, I traveled to San Diego (because it's beautiful,......I mean ) for graduate studies at United States International University (now Alliant), completing her MA in 1988 and Psy.D. in 1992 at the age of 28.

I've worked in various treatment environments. I listed a few below.

Psychiatric hospitals

Non-profit community-based organizations

Juvenile halls

Probation honor camps

Maximum-security juvenile and adult prisons

Community clinic

Public schools

I now have the pleasure of working in my private practice specializing in telepsychology which allows me to work with clients from all over California utilizing a HIPPA-compliant, secured web portal. Modern technology isn't just for gaming! This has been incredibly helpful allowing me to treat clients who may not have access to care in their own communities.

Dr. Masters saw something that I never saw in myself, which was potential and a mentality to do something better with myself, but I just didn't know how.
